Andhra Pradesh’s Green Hydrogen Investment Drive

On July 18, 2025, at the Green Hydrogen Summit in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh signed two MoUs worth ₹51,000 crore, facilitated by NREDCAP and the AP Energy Department. The projects include:
- Yamna (UK), represented by Gal Bogin, investing ₹16,000 crore for a 1 MMTPA Green Ammonia project at Krishnapatnam.
- JKSH and Hynfrawill investing ₹35,000 crore for 150 KTPA Green Hydrogen and 600 KTPA Green Ammonia at Machilipatnam.
These initiatives aim to create over 10,500 green jobs, with the state targeting ₹10 lakh crore in green investments and 7.5 lakh job opportunities. The focus is on producing 1.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen per annum and 3 GW electrolyser manufacturing capacity, aligning with national targets of 5 MMT by 2030 and net-zero by 2070. This development positions Andhra Pradesh as a potential “Green Hydrogen Valley,” though execution challenges like infrastructure and funding remain.
